Día de los Muertos is marigolds by the armful, candles burning all night, a table set for the people you love... whether or not they're still here to pull up a chair. Miss Catrina is our love letter to that night.

The back of the tile is a deep, warm purple tortoise with a papel picado engraved and painted into it. The tortoise catches light in the corners of every tile, so a stacked wall glows a little at the edges, like a foggy sunset just after dusk.

  • Bams are prayer candles lit one by one down the suit
  • Dots are sugar skulls and covered in marigolds
  • Craks carry papel picado
  • Flowers are calaveras cradling stems, blooms, and corsages
  • Winds a cemetery at night, lit by candles
  • Jokers two unique Catrina designs

She pairs with three coordinating mats: Toile De Los Muertos, Papel Picado; and El Último Refresco (a collaboration with Tigre De Tartán).

Each set includes 160 tiles, 2 dice, and our custom-designed Game Guide.

Miss Catrina is currently scheduled to arrive the week of September 21st. Join the notify list and we'll let you know the moment she's here.

Hand-Crafted Process

Our tiles are almost entirely hand-crafted - it's amazing to watch them come to life!

  1. The process begins with cutting each of the 3 acrylic colors by hand. For a full set of 160 tiles, with 3 colors of acrylic and 4 sides per tile, that’s 1,920 precise cuts per set (!!!) Afterward, the layers are meticulously glued together by hand, one at a time.
  2. Next, the tiles are polished to smooth the edges, faces, and backs.
  3. While a machine engraves the designs and applies paint, the fine details are hand-painted.

Because of this hand-crafted process, you might notice subtle variations in your tiles; proof of the artistry that goes into every set. Your tile set is truly a unique work of art.
